Sunday Vinyl
FROM CONDÉ NAST TRAVELER:
Since opening the doors to Boulder’s Frasca Food and Wine in 2004—the same year partner Bobby Stuckey was certified as a Master Sommelier—the Frasca Hospitality Group has gone on to achieve international renown by winning virtually every major industry prize there is, including three James Beard Foundation Awards. Its reputation for Italian cuisine has only grown with acclaimed follow-ups Pizzeria Locale, also in Boulder, and Tavernetta. Having succeeded beyond most restaurateurs’ wildest dreams, what could Stuckey possibly do to challenge himself and his high-functioning crew? Something completely different, that’s what. Inspired by his penchant for listening to vinyl on his days off, this wine bar—located next door to Tavernetta overlooking the Union Station train tracks—exceeds, or more accurately upends, the skyscraping expectations they’ve set over the years with a gorgeous assortment of bottles from everywhere but Italy and an equally fabulous, not to mention eclectic, collection of records that spin on a state-of-the-art, three-turntable sound system. What a sly bastion of retro European elegance—and what fun.
