Great stay with the family . Beautiful and serene . The electricity went out in the cabin and while responsive it took more than 4 hours to get back on so although we were planning on staying in, we had to go out for dinner one night with children and a baby . My only suggestion is to have a backup generator specially for families with small children who cannot afford to go without electricity for that long . Otherwise, great stay.

We loved our stay at Bear Cabin, which is just five minutes from Twin Lakes. The views of Twin Lakes from the front yard are absolutely gorgeous and were one of the highlights of our stay. The cabin is located in a quiet, peaceful setting, making it a perfect place to relax and unwind. Food options nearby are limited, but that wasn’t an issue for us since we came prepared. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and we’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful mountain getaway.

This was an excellent place to stay to experience Twin Lakes. We had a quick trip for our daughter’s elopement and this was close to their Airbnb. The communication was great. We had the possibility of hosting another daughter and her dog last minute. The replies to our inquiries were quick. The kitchen is very well stocked. We didn’t utilize it very much because our trip was brief. We would definitely come back as there are so many amazing hikes nearby. The place was as described and hosts were friendly and communicative.

Great little place to stay! Very clean and comfortable! We would absolutely book this cabin and with these owners again!!Just a note to help you plan for your trip... If you plan on using the kitchen a lot, you may want to being disposable plates & utensils and plates/bowls as there isn't a dishwasher and the dishes they have are limited. No complaints, everything was wonderful, but I would've packed a little differently had I known this.

4x4 isn’t required during the summer months but would definitely be required in the winter. Great spot with an awesome view of the lakes from the sitting area. We were in the Bear Cabin which is behind other cabins so unfortunately no view from our spot. I’d recommend staying here.

Exactly what we were looking for! We were able to find the cabin easy, and very little traffic around. Had some neighbors but barely knew they were there. Beautiful scenery, amazing view of the lakes and mountains around! 30 minutes from hot springs in Buena Vista!

This is a review for the Bear cabin. Our stay here was great, it's very close to local points of interest and all the amenities were provided. Very comfy place to stay.
Not a great view from inside this particular cabin, but all you have to do is step outside. For the view, we would have gone with one of the other cabins on the property had they been available, but the $ savings with this one was nice so I can't complain. We spend most of the trip outside anyways.
Only thing I would add is I would make it more clear on this listing which cabin you're actually renting here, I was pretty sure this was for the Bear cabin when I booked it but not 100%.

Bear Cabin is a delight! It has everything you need to enjoy your stay in the upper Arkansas River area. My wife and I found the cabin comfortable and well outfitted. Book this place. You’ll love it!

The highlight was the breathtaking view of the frozen lake—an absolutely stunning winter wonderland. Watching the sunrise over the ice-covered water with the mountains in the background was magical. The best part about this location is undoubtedly the incredible view! But even as incredible as the view is, the cabin is close with the cozy vibe, all the amenities, and everything worked so well! The heat was IMPRESSIVE as our entire stay, the weather was below freezing with multiple inches of snow, and we had to turn the heat down to keep from sweating! it was great.

The Bear Cabin was the perfect spot for our winter ski getaway! Nestled 20 minutes away from Leadville , we had a great time exploring the area after days on the slopes. The hosts were clear and kind communicators. We knew exactly what to expect in terms of getting to the cabin in winter conditions, especially since it is in a more rural area. The cabin had a well stocked kitchen, cozy sitting area, and comfortable beds. We had a great stay and definitely would come back to hike the area in warmer months.Thank you!

Stayed here for our honeymoon and loved it. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed, including games and plenty of tv options. But the best part of this cabin was the views! Pictures barely do it justice, the ride up to the cabin was magical and looking out from the cabin at the lake was literally breathtaking! Went when there was snow so it just added to the bmagic. Absolutely recommend!

There are a ton of trails, easy access to the Arkansas headwaters and did I mention that the cabin is cozy, pristine and equipped with everything you need. I think another review mentioned the oven being small and not having a pan to properly fit, which is still the case. I'm mostly calling this out so future people can accurately plan meals (i.e. probably shouldn't plan to roast your thanksgiving turkey here).

We had a great time
We had a great time. The cabin stayed warm. The washer and dryer were super nice to have. There were dishes, pots and pans, laundry soap, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash. There was lots of wildlife in the area. None right at the cabin but if you drove for 20min you could find bighorn sheep, deer, and elk.
The things that frustrated us were that there wasn't a fly swatter. We are used to the outdoors and know that bugs get inside, but give us something to kill them with. It also might be worth mentioning to guests to do tick checks. As soon as the snow is gone, the ticks are out and we found so many out on our adventures. The other thing that frustrated us was that we couldn't find a broom. We wanted to sweep up a mess and were left cleaning the floors with paper towels.
Overall we had a wonderful stay and we'll likely return!

Perfect spot to getaway from the crowded towns and immerse yourself in nature. The drive to the cabin is beautiful as well. Definitely worth it if you like a private, off-the-grid cabin experience. The nearest town was not more than 30mins away.

It was wonderfully quiet at night and the stars are very bright! The location is close to dozens of wonderful hikes. We were very comfortable and would absolutely consider visiting again. Enjoyed our stay at Bear Cabin. The cabin itself was comfortable and had everything we needed for a long summer weekend. It was a good size for 2 adults and 2 pups, probably would be a little cozy for a larger group of adults. Views across the lake are stunning - not visible from cabin itself but right outside the door! The outdoor area/furniture could use a little TLC.

There were a few nuances like the deck heater not working, the trash cans being full and not a lot of room to dump your trash and not very bear proof, being very close to the next cabin, and the beds not being very friendly for tall people. The location was great and wonderful views. We were looking for a location close to the lake, but easier than camping with two young kids!

would definitely reconsider going back! from the pictures I imagined it to be more isolated but there were other cabins and home right next it it. instructions on how to get there were pretty clear. The view on the bench was really pretty.

We absolutely loved our getaway at the Bear Cabin. It was so cozy, had everything we needed, and was in such a beautiful location. The road was fine getting there in the winter. The only thing is that it is very close to the other cabins- but it is still peaceful and not a big deal.

Beautiful cabin
Beautiful cabin. Very cozy and next to some pretty views. It is the cabin in the back so you cannot see anything except the other cabins around you, but if you walk into the street it is beautiful. The road was a bit difficult in the snow even with 4wd. Only complaint was the oven being dirty and filling the house with smoke when I was preheating it, I had to clean it three times.

The Bear Den was a fabulous spot for 2 couples to stay and have a lovely and relaxing time. It was in a gorgeous location with a 30 min ride to Buena Vista and the hot springs. The cabin was clean, comfortable and cozy with modern amenities and everything you need to have a nice stay! We will definitely be back!

This was the perfect little mountain cabin
This was the perfect little mountain cabin! Super relaxing and cozy for the winter. I would definitely recommend entering / exiting the cabin from the front entrance as the back entrance is very icy and hilly. I loved stargazing and the view from the front of the cabins was amazing. The bear den cabin is behind the other cabins on the property so there wasn’t a Mountain View from the cabin itself. Overall, great experience here and can’t wait to come back!

The cabin is simple and has cute bear and moose decorations. It is behind some other cabins, so you must move up in front of those for a view. It is comfortable and the management does a good job of communicating with guests and seeing if they need anything. It is close to fishing and hiking areas and easily accessible.

The Bear Den is a very cute cabin, very clean, well equipped and nicely decorated
The Bear Den is a very cute cabin, very clean, well equipped and nicely decorated. The king bed was too hard for me and I was happy to have another choice in the 2nd bedroom. We enjoyed how close we were to the lakes and all the fantastic hiking!

Had a great stay there with a friend visiting from MI. Cute cabin with a beautiful view of the lake in the front. It was exactly what we were looking for. Worked perfectly for the 2 of us. We were able to cook up some nice dinners with the kitchen and grill provided. Also enjoyed our hikes around Turquoise lake and Timberline lake trail. Would definitely go back and rent again

It was so close that we would kayak in the morning and come back in the evening to take in the views of the lakes and the mountains. Bear cabin was cute and cozy and provided us with everything we needed for our stay. If your looking to go out to eat or buy things you will have about a 20 minute drive to Leadville, something to be aware of if you need to buy food or drinks. There is a restaurant and some food trucks in the town of Twin Lakes but it is a very small town. We will definitely be back!!!

We spent time enjoying the lake and local trails and there are close towns nearby for groceries or eating out. The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The views are amazing as well!

Temperatures got in the negatives and the place stayed very warm. Great location from multiple ski resorts without the i70 traffic. Will come back again.

Cozy and quiet
This was a super cozy cabin in an awesome and well secluded area. If you're looking to get away from people this is definitely a great spot to go. As discussed with the owners of the cabin there was construction on a building next door but was hardly even a bother at all. Would highly recommend this for anyone interested.

We enjoyed our stay in the Bear Cabin
We enjoyed our stay in the Bear Cabin. We had everything we needed, the kitchen was well appointed and the bed was large and comfortable. Just be aware that there are multiple cabins and not all of them have lake front views. I was a little unsure if the outside seating and BBQ area was for all guests or just the guests staying in the lakefront facing cabin. Overall I would stay here again but in the cabin with the view.

Great space with amazing views! Only note I have is pertaining to lack of cell reception/wifi. I was traveling alone as a female and it made me nervous.

Twin lakes is beautiful! The bear cabin is very nice but it doesn’t have the same view as the other 3 cabins. Hosts were very helpful. All in all, we had a nice stay.

The Bear Den cabin is simple, cute, and clean
The Bear Den cabin is simple, cute, and clean. It’s well set up and stocked. The management company is excellent, and super communicative. The location of the property is lovely, and Twin Lakes is fantastic as always. Two things marred an otherwise excellent stay:
— construction, currently mentioned in the listing. The construction site is VERY close to the cabin (20 feet?). When we were there, the work happened primarily in the evenings. This meant there was a small earth mover in use until 7 pm one night and 9 pm another. Cabin is still usable, but we received a discount and I think that’s appropriate. These details should be in the listing but weren’t when I was there.
— When we stayed, the cabin was listed as having “panoramic views”. This is very misleading. No views from inside the cabin, or from the picnic table designated for this cabin (which also, inexplicably, had a small ATV parked near it). I believe they’ve updated the listing, but FYI: views require walking past the other cabins. There are two unsheltered benches with views which I believe are shared between the cabins. Those views are magnificent.

We loved having a washer and dryer after long days of hiking/white water rafting and the shower was amazing! The full kitchen also came in handy for those hearty breakfasts. We spent the majority of time in the Buena Vista area which was only a short drive away and was better than almost any other accommodation for the price. Plus, our hosts were great at keeping in communication with whatever we needed.
Just a few tips. 1) Make sure to reserve some time for stargazing. 2) If you do NOT have a 4WD and/or high clearance vehicle, do yourself a favor and just follow the directions provided in your guidebook for coming to and leaving the cabin (taking Co Rd 10 <—> Pan Ark Drive <—> Mt Hope Road and going back the same way). We had seen a comment about being careful of a few roads in the winter, so we didn’t pay too much attention since we stayed in the beginning of June. Fast forward to us following GPS directions out from the cabin and we almost got stuck going down a road that a 2WD, low(ish) clearing vehicle should NOT be going down (this is if you continue going down Mt Hope Rd taking a small switchback/zig zag road towards CO-82 W).
Overall, 5 out of 5 stars and would definitely stay again or even more likely upgrade to one of the cabins with a direct view of the lakes and mountains!

It’s a cute little cabin on a campus of cabins above the lake. This cabin itself didn’t have views but the views outside the cabin were beautiful. Though there is WiFi it did not work very well (mountain WiFi). It’s a cute little cabin with access via driving to nearby trails and the lakes.

The Bear cabin was great! My dad and I were on a trip where we were trying to hit several ski resorts in a week, and this place was perfectly located in the middle! It was easy to get in and out of the cabin, the place was cleanly, had plenty of room for us and all of our stuff, we had a place to cook some meals, and prep lunches, plus we were even able to do laundry! The hosts were very communicative and available to help us with anything we needed during for our stay!

This was a great space, located in a beautiful area. Great for stars gazing. Closest town with stores is 20-25 mins away. There are tons of activities to do in the surrounding area.
