Crown Hill Park
The facilities are great, the bathrooms are clean and updated. The horse trails are nice. The park is a fun place for kids to explore and play in a natural setting. One problem I have encountered is flooding on the north section of the lake. This has been an issue for the entire 30 years that I have lived in the area. The water overflows (leaving the trail inches underwater) over the sidewalk into the adjacent marsh, which isn’t a bad thing obviously but they really need to build a boardwalk or something over that section. The marsh is a beautiful area with plenty of waterfowl, frogs, turtles, muskrats, dragonflies, butterflies and sometimes even fireflies -a rare sight in Colorado for sure! You are likely to see herons, redwing blackbirds, red-tailed hawks, many species of ducks, wood ducks, coots, mergansers, Canada geese and if you are lucky you may see flocks of bluebirds migrating through in the winter. When I used to walk here daily I would see red foxes on the cemetery side. The trails on the east end are nice and quiet as they meander through trees and willow thickets. I would check out this park and the cemetery too if you are in the area. It is a nice park to visit all times of the year, enjoy the changing seasons and get some outdoor exercise.
