Bonny and Read
As a party of three were went in for lunch around 3pm. It was pretty quiet but filled up over the two hours or so we stayed. The decor is eclectic pirate chic, which we all enjoyed, although the aquarium scene projected on the far wall was a little weird.
Everything we ate was delicious – the fish and chips app was light and not over fried. All three of us got the Sunday special (prime rib and crab legs, $25), and it was SO MUCH FOOD. The prime rib was a huge slab and we got a crab worth of legs each. Also had oysters from the raw bar, no sand or chips, nicely detached, very fresh. Cocktails were nice, coffee was tasty, my glass of Malbec was … Generous. So were the cups of Port with the desserts. The chocolate peanut butter concoction was the perfect end to a really nice meal where we all ate far too much food.
Service was prompt and friendly, we never lacked for anything. Price was totally reasonable when compared to The Famous across the street – about $200 for two apps, half dozen oysters, soup, 3 entrees, 3 desserts, seven cocktails, another drink, and coffee. I definitely plan to go back! It’s a gem of a place.
