This cabin was very cozy. I stayed 2 nights and wished I could have stayed more. Twin Lakes itself has basically no amenities (the one food truck is closed Mon/tues/wed for example). But it’s close to lots of recreation and Leadville is only like 15 minutes away for whatever you need. One drawback: it’s operated by a corp that’s a little intrusive. Lots of pre-check in message like asking the purpose of the stay. Kind of annoying to be pestered although market research when you just want to get away for a couple or days. Still well worth the value though.

Can’t believe how perfect the view is – we spent a lot of time on the property taking in the surrounds and bird watching. Close to lots of outdoor activities. Secluded and even though it’s a grouping of cabins we were never bothered by our neighbors. Will keep this place on our list for future getaways!

Great place for the 2 of us with our dog
Great place for the 2 of us with our dog to explore and hike around Twin Lakes! The kitchen was well stocked, the bed was comfy, and the place had a gorgeous view. We would absolutely come back! The only downside was being so close to the other cabins that our dog would bark whenever anyone moved next door or walked by to get to their cabin, but thankfully we personally could not hear others too loudly.

I really enjoyed the stay at The Trout Retreat. It
I really enjoyed the stay at The Trout Retreat. It was calm, quiet, and cozy cabin. Cabin was clean and well maintained. It does offer all the needed amenities. Really a sweet cabin. Spectacular view of the mountains. It is bit confusing to reach the area especially at night, so I suggest get there during day time for the first visit.

Wonderful little cabin with views even better than the pictures they include! Only suggestion would be for the futon to pull out although I believe it's unable to be folded out intentionally - would be nice for 2 people when they want to sleep separately. But overall it's a great place to stay when you want to get out of the city and enjoy the surrounding area!

67 Mt. Hope Dr., Trout Cabin
Twin Lakes is a beautiful getaway spot, and Trout Cabin is a short drive up from the lakes, and perfect for a couple. There is a minor Google navigating error that tells you to turn on Pan Ark Drive while the street sign says Ross Drive, so don't be confused, just turn left at Ross Drive when Google says Pan Ark Drive. The cabin has a pleasant view of the mountains across the lakes. Twin Lakes doesn't have a lot of amenities that are consistently open, so bring your own food and use Trout Cabin's efficient little kitchen with gas stove, microwave, and refrigerator. The lakes are great for paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing with spectacular mountain views. There are also plenty of excellent hiking options.

Everything we needed for a comfortable stay. On the road with our dog and after several nights in a motel room it was great to get in the Trout cabin with a kitchen and other amenities. After receiving our check in instructions we were a little worried about the road to the cabin, but we had no problem with our Infiniti sedan.
We chose to cook in since we had the dog and not a lot of pet friendly restaurant options in the village of Twin Lakes. We had everything we needed. I would suggest getting supplies in Leadville or other larger city before coming up. The General Store was very limited in Twin Lakes.

We loved our stay here
We loved our stay here. The cabin was easy to access and the cabin felt super comfortable and we felt at home. I will say there were some weird stains on the inside of the bathroom door and when we arrived the stove was on which was a little weird. I would still 100% stay here again though. The host goes above and beyond with communication and the location is AMAZING. You’re literally a 5 minute drive from twin lakes. The Cabin has amazing wifi and a good tv. The cabin is calm quiet and labeled well. All in all we did enjoy our stay a lot.

It was my dogs and I’d first road trip (they’re huskies). I can’t recommend this place enough. Close to Mount Hope, and that walk was a winter wonderland! We’re visiting in spring break. There’s not much to do around, but the scenery around the cabin makes up for it. The STARS at night at this cabin are magnificent. We could hear coyotes at night and see deer often. The cabin is private and intimate for the most part. It had everything we needed and an unbeatable view. So so cozy and clean. The coffee and pots and pans came in so handy. I would LOVE to stay here again!!! ❤️❤️❄️

We had an excellent stay in the trout cabin! Beautiful area overlooked twin lakes. Hosts were responsive. There were a couple super minor maintenance related issues, but it was still excellent and the hosts were kind and helpful!

All in all the stay was great. Worked very well for 3 nights of our two week road trip and was so thankful to have a clean, well done place to stay after spending the days in the mountains. The views really are outstanding. The only SLIGHT inconveniences were parking was a little far from the door and our unit was not very private, not deal breakers. The bed was very comfortable and everything worked well.

(Mt Elbert trailhead is 15-20 min away!) It was super cozy, the kitchen was well stocked and we the cabin felt very private even though it is in a group of 4 cabins. Everything was so cute and cozy, and there were even a bunch of board games for us to play as well! The view from the front is amazing, and sunrise + sunset over the mountains are so beautiful to watch. The hosts were super responsive and their house manual was extremely detailed. Pros: AMAZING location, so close to so many beautiful hikes in Twin Lakes, Buena Vista, and Leadville. Beautiful views of Twin Lakes. Looks as described. Well equipped kitchen. Easy check-in with clear instructions from host. Polite and responsive host. Great heating system for when it’s cold. Peaceful. Dirt road to get to cabin was well-packed. We didn’t spend much time here, but it was a good home base.
Cons: Mattress protector underneath the sheets made the bed slightly uncomfortable. Fridge would produce a lot of condensation that would then collect inside the fridge at the bottom drawer, and slowly leak out. At check-in, the kitchen counters were a little grimy/dusty, as were window sills, bathroom cabinets, kitchen table, and chair arm rests. We were able to clean it with the cleaning supplies provided. There were some flies buzzing around the big sliding window and in the shower.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The area is beautiful and the cabin cozy. We were 20-30 minutes from a larger town with restaurants and such, so be prepared for the drive if needed. Excellent views and hikes nearby! Jeannie at the general store in town was very helpful in showing us the major hikes around!

Very reasonable drive to Leadville and Buena Vista for extra hiking too if you don’t want to stay in Twin Lakes the whole time. I recommend to anyone looking for a private and peaceful getaway.

We had a great stay in trout cabin! It’s so quiet and the views as soon as you step out the front door are amazing. We chose to cook our meals here and the kitchen was small but clean and very well equipped. The host was very responsive when we had to bring our dogs at the last minute. Would definitely love to stay here again!

This place was perfect for our little get away, I only wish the shower head was higher ( I am 5’6” and my husband is 5’9”) and the shower head came to my chest and the oven didn’t work, but other than that it was a great little place and the scenery was amazing will be back for sure

This is definitely somewhere to stay when you’re looking for an isolated experience by nature. Leadville is about 25 minutes away and has shopping/restaurants. Make sure you buy groceries in case you don’t feel like going out at night. The view of the surrounding mountains is spectacular. Overall a great experience.

Fun stay highlighted by an amazing view! I would wholeheartedly recommend this to any travelers looking for a cute small cabin (as long as they are aware of the areas for improvement listed below).
Positive:
- amazing view and location
- great decor and furniture
- well stocked kitchen for cooking
- new and clean
- WiFi good
- nearby lakes and mountains so convenient
Negative:
- TV broken (hopefully they will fix soon)
- Power strip broken (still plenty of outlets though)
- one of the baking trays was too big for the oven (can be switched out for another by host)
- mattress too firm (personal preference)

The location around is wonderful: magic scenery, very quite and peaceful. The cabin itself had almost all that is needed for a good stay: very effective AC system (although somewhat noisy), good bathroom (the dedicated air heater inside is a nice addition!), nice furniture and many amenities (water filter, coffee maker, microwave oven), a decent wifi connection. Also, parking was very convenient.
Overall, it was a great experience, except for some minor imperfections, which I have communicated to the host (I’m sure they could easily be fixed).

From the directions to get there, to the ease of checking in, to the cleanliness and amenities provided, to the LOCATION (absolutely breathtaking), my experience was top notch. The cabin was exactly as described, and had everything I needed for my little getaway. The kitchen was well stocked with everything I needed to cook dinner, the bed was comfy, and the property itself had plenty of seating for taking in views, well-placed signage for parking...I was just so happy with my stay. I will definitely be back because of the hospitality and location!

The cabin/house was perfect for me, my wife and our dog. Stayed for one night. The views and stargazing are amazing. The Airbnb was well stocked and clean. The bed was comfortable and the check in was smooth. The only reason that this is not 5 stars is that it was expensive. Also, fyi there is a 75$ pet fee.

It felt the coziest, had any amenity we may have needed, and made us feel at home. I’ve stayed at many Airbnb’s where owners generally skimp on furniture & amenities. This place did not, making it incredibly comfortable and lovely to stay inside. There is even a heater in the bathroom! We only stayed one night but would have gladly stayed longer.
The neighborhood was nice to walk through, lots of gorgeous aspens. Place was clean. Communication was prompt and clear.
Do be careful to take the correct road up to the cabin. It’s mentioned in the directions. If you follow what they ask, it’s a normal, easy road that all cars can take. We did not, but we were prepared with an off-road capable vehicle and had some fun on our drive in.

Cute little cabin overlooking Twin Lakes. Perfect for 1-3 people. I love that it’s pet friendly and close to lots of beautiful hiking trails/easy access to 14ers in the area. Looking forward to coming back for another weekend getaway!

These cabins are very beautiful. I do love staying in Twin Lakes. The Moose cabin has the best view. *Fair warning bring a can opened and skillet. Expect to be asked to clean the cabin before you leave…. And still be charged a 100$ cleaning fee.

Staying at Trout Cabin was wonderful. We had no problems
Staying at Trout Cabin was wonderful. We had no problems arriving at the location. The view and the surroundings are beautiful. Downtown is not far away, and neither are several ski resorts. The cabin is nice and cozy and provides pretty much all the appliances we needed. Would go back without a doubt.

Absolutely perfect cabin in a beautiful location! Had all the basics, well kept and well decorated. We were super happy with it being pet friendly but also couldn’t even tell other pets had been there. We will definitely be returning.

Stay was awesome - clear & straight forward directions, I would recommend staying here to anyone who’s interested in exploring the untapped twin lakes area. Just make sure you give yourself time and water to acclimate to the altitude! Property is i believe at 9600 feet of elevation 🙂

This cabin was so cozy and just right for a mini get away. We went in the winter time and the views and the Mountains are just as breath taking as they are in the summer. Our favorite thing was the peace and quiet. We took the dogs on walks every morning straight from the cabin and it was so nourishing to our souls. On the practical side, the beds were very comfortable, the hot water was great, and everything was so clean and available. Highly recommend this stay!

We were blown away with the views and beauty around us. Couldn't have asked for a more beautiful white Christmas. The cabin was very cozy and well stocked. The wifi didn't work while we were there but it was probably because of all of the snowfall the night before. We used our hotspot instead. Great heat, never got cold inside. Will definitely be back in the summer!

Very helpful and to remain respectful of the place when leaving or checking out. We had everything we needed and just sad the Saloon wasn’t open when we visited so we brought pizza up with us from Leadville. It was quiet and comfortable. We needed an early check-in and we’re SO accommodating to that, thank you. We can’t wait to return!!!

This cabin was so cozy and comfortable with outstanding views right out of your sliding glass door! We absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Trout cabin 🙂 The cabin is just a short drive to Leadville, where you can find restaurants, shops, dispensaries, etc. Our favorite breakfast & mimosas at Buchi, Earl’s dispensary prices can’t be beat and the staff was very welcoming. We can’t wait to stay again! Thanks for an amazing experience 🙂

Perfect space for a long weekend in the mountains! Views are amazing at all hours of the day and night and the space was cozy with a lot of amenities. Great location being near many of the trailheads and easy to get to Leadville or head to Twin Lakes and Independence Pass. Definitely recommend!

Perfect launching point for great hikes and the cabin had lots of nice touches like towels for dogs and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Also the visitors in the nearby cabins made for great company! Would definitely stay here again.

Nice little spot overlooking Twin Lakes. Trout Cabin is one of four cabins on site. Cabin was actually a bit larger than expected. Excellent host communications made check in a breeze.

The overall stay was good
The overall stay was good. We were disappointed with the the closeness of the cabins. The info was misleading on privacy, and the angle of pictures were also misleading. They looked bigger, and it looked like one cabin. Also misleading to call it a retreat and not a simple cabin. Maybe you called it a retreat because you provided more than an normal cabin provides (hygiene stuff and kitchen extra's) But it was not private the cabins are way to close. Calling the whole property a retreat maybe, but calling The trout Retreat for a little cabin was very misleading.
This cabin was nice and had all we needed, but just disappointed us on the way it was labeled and described. I appreciate the items that were there for us to use. It had nice views as well.
I also didn't care for the fact that the cabin's were not designated for non pet travelers & pet owner travelers. Being you have 4 cabins, why could 2 be used for travelers with pets and the other 2 for non pet. When I went to hang my clothing up in the closet, the hangers were very dusty. The 1st 2 I grabbed were, so I didn't bother checking the rest. The bathtub wasn't draining normally. It took a long time to drain, as we empty water from our cooler after arriving. Therefore, when we showered it took just as long to drain, we were standing in our shower water.
On a positive note, the wifi worked great and the bed was very comfortable, and we utilized the grill. Which was very dirty as well. Another positive was the inside of the cabin was furnished and looked as described on website. We enjoyed a board game, it had been years since my husband had played a board game.
