LIVING & DINING AREA:
When you first set eyes on this gorgeous yellow house, you'll be entranced by its delicate features and historic charm. Originally built in 1888, this recently renovated Victoria beauty will make you feel right at home. From the front porch, right above the large front door is a beautiful stained-glass window. As you walk in the door, you'll see colorful light streaming in and dancing inside entryway and staircase. To the right, an open spacious living area features a fireplace and plenty of room to get comfortable on the leather sectional, ottoman, and sofa.
The dining area features a large granite island dining table, plush velvet chairs, and a modern geometric chandelier. The table comfortably seats 10 guests.
KITCHEN:
The large kitchen features granite countertops, a huge farmhouse sink, dishwasher, oven, stovetop, microwave, coffee maker, and all cooking essentials you will need to cook meals for your group. A breakfast nook that seats four, a fridge, and an original wood burning stove complete the kitchen space (this does not work but it is fascinating to check out!)
Just off the kitchen is a bathroom / laundry room combo with a toilet, sink and walk-in shower.
BEDROOMS:
Bedroom 1 - Red Rooster: The first bedroom is on the main floor and has a queen size bed with plush linens, a hanging chair, and plenty of space for your luggage.
Bedroom 2 - Aspen Alley: Just off the landing on the second floor is bedroom #2. This spacious suite features a king sized bed, cozy reading nook with a velvet chair, fun art and plenty of space for your things. On the far wall is a small sink and mirror and a small bathroom with a toilet and walk-in shower. Shampoo, Conditioner, and soap are provided. Perfect for those who like a bit more privacy.
Bedroom 3 - Delmonico: The third bedroom suite has a king bed, night tables, large windows with black out curtains, and a small sink and mirror on the far wall with a connected bathroom with a toilet and walk-in shower. Shampoo, Conditioner, and soap are provided.
Bedroom 4 - Ye Olde Pine: The fourth bedroom has a king sized, a lounge area with a plush couch and tons of space. The best feature of the room is a Juliette Balcony or Widows Peak that overlooks the historic village.
Just across the second floor landing is a HUGE bathroom. It features a claw foot tub, a large vanity and mirror for getting ready, toiletries, and tons of marble throughout. It's the perfect place to wash off after a day of playing in the snow.
The third floor features two rooms and one half bathroom.
Bedroom 5 - Alfred's Attic: The largest room upstairs. Has two double beds and space for luggage.
Bedroom 6 - Bird's Nest: Small but efficient. It features a double bed, cozy chair, and a luggage rack for your things. In the neighboring space, you'll find a collection of board games, widescreen TV and a sectional couch.
The upstairs half bath is bright and sophisticated. It has a vanity, sink, toilet and large round mirror.
OUTDOOR SPACE:
The exterior of the Charles house is more original to its 1888 look. Be sure to stop and marvel at the original stone chimney. The front porch has a quaint porch swing and a few chairs provided for your use. These are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. Lastly, there's a small zipline for children in the backyard for your entertainment during your stay. If you're wondering who the fury friend is, that's Gus, he sometimes visits the property and keeps watch over things. If you're lucky he may be waiting out front, ready to greet you.
NEED FAST WI-FI? We've got you covered! With STARLINK broadband satellite internet and Mesh Routers, we’ve got the fastest, most reliable internet available in the mountains.
Notes
Because of zoning laws, each home can accommodate a maximum number of people per night. If you exceed this number, you will be charged an additional $100 per person, per night. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
This home is supported by well water and a septic system. These systems are very sensitive to items that are not water or waste. Flushing down solid items and trash could easily clog and disrupt the entire system. Please be conscious to use the trash for trash and solid items. For operation instructions and guidelines, please carefully your review your guidebook link when you receive it.
Please be aware that this home may not be suitable for individuals with mobility challenges or the elderly, as access to some bedrooms require navigating stairs. We kindly ask you to use caution on all staircases.
BRINGING YOUR FURRY FRIEND?
Let us know a little about your dog(s) and we should be able to accommodate with an adjustment to our cleaning fee. $100 cleaning fee per dog, maximum two dogs only. Sorry, no cats permitted.
NEED MORE SPACE?
These retreats are owned and managed by the same people and are right next door:
- The Boho Brothel in Twin Lakes
- The Stargazer Chalet in Twin Lakes
Events are subject to approval. Please note event fees will apply.
THE WILDLIFE
There are plenty of animals around the premises, including many deer, foxes, multiple species of raptors and other birds, armadillos, bunny rabbits, black bears, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, mountain lions, coyotes and much more! You won’t see all of these at the cabin, but if you get out on the trails, you might get lucky...
INTERNET & CELL PHONE COVERAGE
We offer STARLINK, the world's leading broadband satellite internet, boasting speeds of approximately 50-100 mbps. Additionally, you can expect reliable and consistent 4G connections from almost all major cell service providers.
FOOD & GROCERY
The nearest large grocery store is about 30 minutes away in Leadville. It is recommended that you bring your food/drink needs along with you. During the summer months, there are some eating options just down the block.
NATURE, WEATHER & TRAVEL RECOMMENDATIONS
Our cabin is remote. Most of the time a 2WD is just fine but during the winter/spring months a vehicle that can navigate snow, ice and drifting snow is a must and 4x4 is highly recommended. Please plan accordingly as we do not offer refunds due to road conditions and/or poor car choice. In winter months.
- Storm/road conditions may delay arrivals or departures - please plan accordingly.
- Close-toed shoes are ideal for this high-mountain scrub landscape and a must in the winter/spring months.
- We are located at 9,200 feet elevation - so please drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and avoid altitude sickness.
- Be prepared and pack lots of clothing layers so you can adapt to ever-changing conditions. Mountain storms come and go quickly.
- Sometimes the wind kicks up to remind us of all the things we cannot control, but it usually settles down again within a few hours.
- Wildlife is somewhat rare but has been known to wander through, so please do not leave food outside at night.
OUTSIDE LIGHT
Because the village of Twin Lakes is celebrated as a 'Dark Sky City,' everyone in town does their utmost to minimize the amount of exposed light outside their homes. For this reason, we only have a solar powered light above the address to allow you to find the property but no other functional exterior light. Please bring a flashlight if you require light to be used outside.
VIDEO CAMERAS
To provide utmost safety to our guests and community, we have installed Blink video cameras at the exterior of both entrances. There is NO surveillance of any kind inside the home.
RESPECT
The home is located in a remote, historic mountain town. As visitors to the area, please think about your impact on our town and the small surrounding communities. Please respect full-time residents' privacy and solitude. Follow Leave No Trace guidelines when visiting and recreating in the beautiful outdoors, and please consider supporting local dining and shopping during your stay.
NO SMOKING
We like to keep our cabins as fresh as the outside alpine air. If you need to smoke, you'll need to step outside to do so. There will be a $600 fine for any smoking inside the cabins.

Access
Speaking of snow, this is the Colorado Rockies so be prepared! We do our best to plow the area in front of the cabin and shovel the walkway. However, the remote nature of this place can make these tasks delayed. We do provide a shovel in case you need to clear a path.
