The positives: This home was comfortable and provided adequate sleeping for numerous guests. We did appreciate having two family rooms, one on the main level and one in the basement. Lots of beds and they were all very comfortable. The property managers were really gracious and allowed us to check in a little early (3pm) to accommodate an elderly guest who needed to rest after a very long day of travel.
The not-so positive: When we arrived the house had a very strong odor of cleaning product; however, we knew we would be arriving soon after the cleaning crew left so we understood. However, when we walked through the house we quickly recognized that it had not been thoroughly cleaned. The kitchen table was sticky/tacky to the touch, the cabinets were streaked and greasy (I’m guessing quickly wipe down with some type of cleaning product that shouldn’t have been used on cabinet), the stove had not been wiped down, and dirty dishes were left in the sink. In addition, there were no kitchen towels or hand towels available, Many plates and bowls in the cupboards were dirty, and there were no cleaning or disinfectant products available for use. This was quite concerning, especially in the midst of a pandemic.
We notified property management immediately and they were very gracious in bringing us cleaning supplies and towels the next morning.
The exterior appearance of the home could use attention. It was obvious that the lawn and landscaping had not received much care in over a year. There were many dead weeds and debris that had not been cleaned up. The back yard could be a nice place for guests to relax; however the concrete patio was debris-covered, the weeds were overgrown, garbage strewn across the yard, and there were no patio chairs or lawn chairs for guests to even use.
Overall, I would give this place a 3.5 stars but I didn’t have that option. I rated it up only because once we cleaned the areas that were missed ourselves, our stay was more comfortable.
The house certainly did not stand out as a 5-star accommodation. With a little work and polish it could be much a much nicer place.
